Mission
The Claire Falkenstein Foundation supports and promotes the artist’s legacy by cultivating public access to and study of her work.
History
The Claire Falkenstein Foundation was established to support the recognition of Claire Falkenstein’s wide-ranging artistic practice. Founded in 1997 following the artist’s death, the Foundation initially received funding and artworks from her trust. In accordance with Falkenstein’s wishes, her papers were deposited with the Archives of American Art, where they remain accessible to researchers.
The Foundation maintains a collection of Falkenstein’s work and advances her legacy through scholarship, research, and public engagement focused on her art, life, and cultural impact. Through these efforts, the Foundation honors Falkenstein’s creativity, tenacity, and revolutionary spirit while fostering greater appreciation of her work.
